CHRISTCHURCH POOR.
HOUSING COMPLAINTS.
I Sous interesting remarks were recently i made by Mr. F. Rule, Presln 'erian Court missionary Mid probation offlcar, as to the housing of the poorer class of people in Christchurch. "Go to Hanmer Street or King Street," said Mr. Rule, "and you will find houses thara without any conveniences at all, except drainage. There is no bath, no hoi water, no sink. The homes are small, and set low on the ground. The occupants drink and smoke jn rooms where there is not an open window. There is- "either comfort nor •anitation there."
