LODGES AND DOCTORS.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

Wellington, Tuesday. A deputation from the British Medical Association waited on the Minister for Internal Affairs to-day in connection with the dispute with the friendly societies regarding the payment for attending lodge members. The doctors demand an increase from 15s to 24s a member, on the ground that the present scarcity of medical men, through the requirements for military service, renders the work more difficult to cover. A long discussion took place, the deputation indicating an inclination of the doctors to stand firm by their demands, but eventually, on Mr. Russell's suggestion, it was agreed that a conference with lodge representatives be held on a date to be arranged.
