(Received April 10. 11.15 p.m.)

REPULSE OF TRIPLE ASSAULT BY TURKS IN ARMENIA. ARMY STRENGTHEN BY TROOPS FROM GALLIPOLI. (Received April 10, 10.30 p.m.) London, April 9. A Russian communique states: "A violent artillery duel took place at Postavy, south of Dvinsk. The enemy attempted 10 attack, but were driven back. " In the coastal region of the Caucasus the Turks made three unsuccessful attacks on our position on the right bank of the Taar Dere."

The recent attack by tho Turkish forces on the right flank of the Russian Caucasus army in the Chorokh basin, 30 miles from Trebizond, is described by the Petrograd correspondent of the Times. He says that the attack was delivered by several divisions, including reinforcements from Gallipoli, and was supported by the fire of tho Breslau.

The attack was beaten off, but it shows that the enemy maintained his cohesion after the Erzeroum disaster. The force was seemingly commanded by HaJil Bey, an able officer. The Turkish centre is feverishly fortifying and covering the approaches to Erzingan, 86 miles westward of Erzeroum.
