NO PEACE PROPAGANDA.
WILD SCENE IN LONDON. PANIC AMONG SUFFRAGETTES PROCESSION BROKEN UP, (Received April 10. 8.40 p.m.) London, April 9. A remarkable scene occurred in Trafalgar Square this afternoon. Thousands of people awaited a procession of workers in the Suffrage Federation, whose meeting was announced as a protest against the restriction of popular liberties. The demonstration was organised by Miss Sylvia Pankhurst, who headed the procession. Among the banners was one inscribed " Coercion is not Government."
Suspecting that the meeting was connected with the peace movement, the crowd rushed the procession tho moment it entered the square. It seized and tore up banners and flags, hustled those taking part in the procession, and threw red and yellow ochre in tho faces of the speakers, and then bags of flour. The speakers hastily retreated. Led by Australian soldiers thd crowd sang the National Anthem.
