FRENCH ARMY ORDER TRIBUTE. j LtHJTBXANT Thomson, of the Gold Coast Regiment, is mentioned in a French army order of October 20, which says :— "On August 22, when placed in the forefront of the battle of Ohm, under tho command of Captain Castaing, of the Dahomey Brigade, ho gave proof of the greatest courage and fine aptitude for command in leading his native soldiers to an attack on the German trenches, which were vigorously defended. He fell mortally wounded "50 yards in front of tho enemy. It was due to his fine example that nearly all of the French nativo soldiers temporarily under his command sacrificed their lives in defending his body."
