ANOTHER SERIOUSLY HURT. LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENT. MOTOR COLLIDES WITH TRAIN: hi TELEGRAPH.— TRUSS ASSOCIATION'.! Nelson, Friday. A pottble fatal accident occurred at Innesbrook railway crossing, a short distance from the city, this afternoon, when a motor-car travelling to Motueka collided Trith an incoming train. Tho car was driven by Mr. F. R. Hallam, orchardist, of Tasman, who was accompanied by Mr. U. D. Pine, until recently head of the jobbing department of the Christehurch Press, and Mr. A. Havelock Green, advertising manager of the Christchnrch Press, and Mr. Percy B. Lomax, land agent, of Motueka. The car, which was travelling at a fair speed, struck one of the waggons near the engine of the train, with tremendous force, the car being | wrecked and the occupants thrown in all directions- Mr. Hallam was hurled between the couplings of the waggons, and, landing on the far side of the train, ho miraculously escaped with a shaking and abrasions. Medical aid promptly arrived from town, and Messrs. Pine, Green and Lomax wcro removed to the hospital. Mr. Pine succumbed about an hour after admission, and Mr. Green died in the evening. The latter had received terrible injuries to the chest and abdomen. Mr. Pines injuries were also internal. Mr. Lomax had his left leg almost severed below the knee, and ho also received severe wounds about the head and body. He -was operated on to-night, and lies in a serious condition. Mr. Hallam states that be put on the brake when be saw the train, but was unable to avert a collision. The driver and fireman of the engine saw the car approaching and whistled vigorously, but the warning was not beard bv the occupants' of the car. The fnnesbrook crossing has been the scene of several serious accidents. The remains of Messrs. Pine and Green will be sent ie Christehurch by tomorrow's steamer. VICTIMS OF THE ACCIDENT.
