EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.

RECENT APPOINTMENTS.

The following grants of temporary rank, appointments and promotions of officers employed with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (Europe) have- been approved : —

NEW ZEALAND MOUNTED RIFLE BRIGADE. Auckland Mounted Rifle Regimert: The notice published in New Zealand Gazette No. 143, dated December 16, 1915, relative to the. promotion of Captain George Augustus King, New Zealand Staff Corps, from staff-captain Otago Mounted Rifle Brigade, to the rank of major, and his appointment as second in command, vice Major Frank Chapman (died of wounds), is cancelled.^ _ Captain George Augustus King, New Zealand Staff Corps, resumes the duties of staff-captain, New .Zealand Mounted Rifle Brigade. The notice published in New Zealand Gazette. No. 143. dated December 16, 1915, relative to the appointment of Captain Hubert Cecil Glendining, New Zealand staff Corps, as staff-captain, is cancelled. Captain Hubert Cecil Glendining, New Zealand Staff Corps, resumes the duties of adjutant, Otago Mounted Rifle Regiment.

Wellington Mounted Rifle Regiment: 2nd Lieutenant Ralph Fitz-Roger Beetham, Wellington Mounted Rifles Regiment, is appointed orderly officer to the brigadier-general commanding, vice Lieutenant John Burnett Da\is, who has vacated that appointment and is seconded from his regiment. Lieutenant and Adjutant Robert Charles Wickens, New Zealand Field Artillerv. to be captain and to complete establishment, Ist New Zealand Field Artillery Brigade, vice Major George Edward Benson Mickle, returned to New Zealand. Lieutenant Henry Gordon Wilding, New Zealand Field Artillery, is appointed adjutant, 2nd New Zealand Field Artillery Brigade vice Lieutenant and Adjutant Robert Charles Wickens, who vacates the appointment. Sergeant Archibald Campbell Macdonald is granted the temporary rank of 2nd lieutenant, vice 2nd Lieutenant Frederick Malcolm Turner (sick). Dated September 25, 1915. Corporal- Gerland Lyon is granted the temporary rank of 2nd lieutenant, vice Captain Charles Victor Leeming (sick). Dated September 28, 1915. Bombardier Lancelot Lowin is granted the temporary rank of 2nd lieutenant, vice 2nd Lieutenant Walter Lancelot Moore (sick}. Dated September 30, 1915. Sergeant Henry Norman Webster is granted the temporary rank of 2nd lieutenant, vice Captain Henry James Daltry (sick). Dated September 51, 1915. NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS. Staff Sergeant-Major John Joseph Moore (Royal Engineers) is granted the temporary rank of 2nd lieutenant, vice Lieutenant William Stevens McCrorie (appointed adjutant). Dated October 2. 1915. Staff Sergeant-Major Thomas William Dollimore (Royal Engineers) is granted the temporary rank of 2nd lieutenant, vice 2nd Lieutenant Henry Masterton Clark (sick). Dated October 2, 1915. 2nd Lieutenant Hugh Sebastian King relinquishes his appointment. Dated September 27, 1915. AUCKLAND INFANTRY BATTALION. Lieutenant George Henry Wooley is temporarily appointed adjutant, vice Captain Athol Graham Bissell Price (sick). Dated October 15, 1915.

NEW ZEALAND MEDICAL CORPS. Sergeant - Major (W. 0.) William Tweedy, to be lieutenant, and is appointed quartermaster, vice Lieutenant and Quartermaster George Purdv (struck off strength).
