QUEEN CARNIVAL FUND.
SOME TARDY COMMITTEES. FINAL SETTLEMENT DELAYED. The final realisation of the results of the recent Queen Carnival, in aid of the Auckland Patriotic 'nd War Relief Fund, is being delayed through the tardiness of some of the committees, formed in the interests of the various Queen candidates, in submitting their balance-sheets to the Central Carnival Committee. The books of the Central Committee were closed from yesterday as against outside claimants and if the accounts of the candidates' organisations were to hand, the joint treasurers, Mr. E. Anderson and Mr. M. M. Louisson, would be able to announce the general result within a few days. »Should the matter be delayed much further, the treasurers will be obliged to bring matters to finality, so far as they are concerned, by handing over their books to the Patriotic and War Relief Association, and leave that body to make the final settlement. Up to date the amount handed over by the Carnival Committee to the Patriotic and War Relief Committee is £200,000. Of the other amounts known to be still due there are promised subscriptions to the amount of £685, which will be claimed bv the latter committee on the dates fixed by the donors for payment.
