INFANTRY WANTED.

130 MORE FROM AUCKLAND. FILLING SOUTHERN QUOTAS, The Defence authorities in Auckland have been asked to supply an additional 130 infantrymen for the eleventh rein-ft forcemeats. This extra call was for- ■ shadowed in statements made in Welling, ton and Auckland during the past f ew days. The South Island districts are evidently 500 short in their infantrv drafts, and the North Island is behv* asked to make good the deficiency, Soaie days ago it was announced that Auckland's quota for the eleventh reinforcements was assured, and it is possible that with an effort the extra men will be found bv Tuesday, the date of the departure {» Trentham of the next reinforcement draft. The local Defence authorities report a Very poor response to the request made by circular for men registered for the Armv Service Corps and ambulance sections ta transfer to the infantry or mounted rifles.

MEDICAL EXAMTNATIOH. TWENTY-ONE ACCEPTED. Recruits to the number of 35 attended the medical examination held in the Drill Hall yesterday. Of that number 21 were accepted. 13 were deferred on account of minor physical defects, and one was rejected as unfit. The names of the men accepted are as follows :— J. L.
