FERRY OVER THE WAIHOU.
THAMES COMPLAINT OF DELAY. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN' CORRESPONDENT. ] Thames, Friday. At the annual meeting of the Thames Chamber of Commerce, held on Wednesday night, a letter was read from the Prime Minister, acknowledging receipt of a letter from the chamber, -urging that effect be "iven to the finding of the commission with regard to the establishment of a ferry across the Waihou River at Kopu, and informing the chamber that he 1 would bring the representations before the | Minister for Public Works. Considerable discussion took place on this question, ! which was also dealt with in the annual report. It was pointed out that, although the Royal Commission had brought in a finding in June last fixing the site definitely at Kopu, no action had yet been taken by the County Council, which was the controlling body, towards carrying out the work, claimed to be of the utmost importance to the whole district. It was decided to instruct the secretary to communicate with the Hon. W. Fraser urging the necessity of the work being proceeded with as soon as Possible.
