Mb. and Mrs. Arthur Worky and Mr. Colin Colquhoun, who have been staying at the Grand Hotel, left for Rotoroa by the express yesterday morning. Mr. T. Rcnayne, accompanied by li; 3 wife and daughter,, arrived in Auckland from Wellington yesterday afternoon bv the Main Trunk express. They are staving at the Grand Hotel. Colonel C. M. Gibbon, Chief of the General Staff, arrived in Auckland bv yesterday's first Main Tank express, and left again for Wellingtor by last evening's train He visited the Avondale and Narrow Neck camps and the Walsh Aviation School at Orakei. Mr. C H. Poole, M.P., left for WeiiJngtcm by yesterdays mid-day Main irunk express, to join the proposed deputation to the Prime Minister in favour of local mijtary camps. Mr. J. S. Dickson, M.P., will follow when the date of the deputation is definitelv known. Other Auckland members are hampered in the matter by prior engagements. Mr. George Elliot yesterday resigned the position of chairman of tie Executive Committee of the Auckland Patriotic Association. Mr. Elliot explained that, with the successful termination of the carnival much /*,**? heavy work attached to the office had disappeared, and he now wished to be free to devote himself to the work of the Aliens Commission*, to which he had not been able to pive due attention tor some tune past. Further, he would be leaving New Zealand for a time immediately after the New Year. Mr. J. H. Gunson was appointed to the vacant office and is therefore now chairman of the Executive Committee, a s well as preI sident of the association.
