PIGEON-FLYING.

NORTHERN CLUB'S RACE.

The Northern Racing Pigeon Club flew its /second old bird race on Saturday, from Te Kuiti. The weather was very unsettled, and completely spoiled the race. Mr. Croft, the Te Kuiti stationmaster, had charge of the birds, .liberated them at 11.30 a.m.. the winning bird arriving home at 6h 2m" 35s having been on the wing for 6h 32m 355! The result was as follows:—Hughes's bee Drizzle, time 6h 32m 355. velocity 447 yds 1. Gregson's b c Thunder, 6h 31m 58s, 446 yds*. ?,L. ;ru -, 1 4 an ??. , Ba bn«! a* c c Lightning, 6h 40m 13s. 444 yds 3. These we.re the only birds to arrive home on the day out of 48 starters. Six members competed.
