The New Zealand-bred gelding Diavolo was sent out favourite for the Hurdle Race, and he duly accounted for the opposition, the victory being very popular. Longacre was the only late withdrawal from the A.J.C. Derby, a field of ten being left in to contest the blue riband. The Spring Stakes brought out a Held of twelve, and it gave rise to the best race of the day. St. Carwyne and Reputation fought out a great finish, and the leading pair dashing past the post level, the judge declared a dead heat. The owners -divided the stakes.

A great field of 3 was saddled up to contest the Epsom Handicap, for which Woorak and Garlin started equal favourites.
