FUTILE ATTEMPTS TO CROSS.
(Beoeived October 4, 3 &.m.) > Paris, October 3. : The Petit Parisien's Bucharest correspondent says- Germans have relieved the Austrians' first line on the Danube. A German battalion attempting to cross at Smendria was entirely destroyed, and seven attempts to cross the Danube- at different places were repulsed with heavy losses. - -~ " - .^
