; Not heeding the appeals of officers |to shelter from the hail of bullets Mira Ivanova, a nurse, tended the wounded in the thick of battle on September 21, until all the officers, including her brother, had fallen. The men were wavering, when Mira Ivanova, realising that the moment was critical, rallied the remnants, charged at their head, and captured a trench. She was struck in the head by a bullet at the moment of success, and died shortly i after. J i
