LOYALTY OF INDIA.
TRIBUTE BY VICEROY.
NO INTERNAL TROUBLES.
(Received October 3. 7 p.m.) £ ' Simla, October 2. The Viceroy of India, Lord Hardinge, in closing the autumn session of the Legislative Council, said he was pleased to hinder the University Bill from becoming law. After discussions extending over four years order had been restored in the Punjaub, which had been disturbed by emigrants returning from Canada and the "United States imbued with revolutionary ideas. He appreciated the assistance given by the loyal people of the Punjaub in hunting down dangerous desperadoes. The Amir of Afghanistan, since the beginning of the war, had observed strict neutrality, and Lord Hardinge believed that attitude will be rigidly maintained. He paid a tribute to the loyalty and- patriotism which India had displayed in the European war.
As the war progressed, pressure would be felt more and more, but they must show the world that all attempts to create trouble or sedition in India would be fruitless-
