FURTHER FRENCH SUCCESS IN THE CHAMPAGNE.

MORE MACHINE-GUNS AND PRISONERS CAPTURED. BOMBARDMENT OF RAILWAY LINES AND STATIONS. (Received October 3. 5 D.m.) "\ Paris, October 2. Despite a heavy German bombardment the French have made perceptible progress, trench by trench, on the heights of La Folie. A communique states: "A coup-de-main between Auberive and Epine de Yedeprange enabled us to capture more machine-guns and a number of prisoners. A violent bombardment in the Argonne, north of La Houyette was effectively stopped by our bomb-throwers. " The enemy shelled Verdun with long-range artillery, which our artillery countered. We cannonaded trains at the Tigneuilles and Les Hattochatel stations, causing two violent explosions. " One of our dirigibles on Thursday night bombarded the junction of Amagne-Lyguy and the stations of Attigny and Vonziers, and returned safely."
