(Received September 29, 1 &.m.) New York, September 28. The London Times says the offensive was well timed and tends to postpone the movement against the allies in Gallipoli. The New York World says the assaults promise to render Russia vigorous assistance.
GERMAN ADMISSIONS.
COATING THE PILL.
Amsterdam, September 28.
Berlin newspapers warn the public against exaggerating the German check. The Koelnische Zeitung expresses' the opinion that the advances in the vicinity of Lille and Perthes are not surprising, in view of the terrible bombardment, levelling the German defences. The Volks Zeitung declares that the success is not proportionate to the losses the enemy sustained.
