GERMANS IN RETREAT NEAR NOVO GRODEK.

Wellington, September 28.

The High Commissioner reports, under date London, September 27, as follows:— The Russians captured Resterka, in the neighbourhood of Vilna. In the same district the fortified village of Ostroff was carried with a bayonet charge. Village 50 was recaptured.

" The enemy were driven out of the trenches near the village of Old Kolichitzy, 600 German prisoners and quantities of munitions and waggons being captured. Podlugie, east of Novo Grodek, was captured after a sanguinary bayonet charge, and the Germans were driven across the Strumene, abandoning numerous wounded and quantities
