Mr. W. Todd Smith has resigned from the presidency of the Auckland x.M.C.A. on account of ill-health.

Captain F. A. Macindoe, relieving master on the Northern Steamship Company's Chelmsford, formerly chief officer on the Ngapuhi, has been appointed secretary of the Merchant Service Guild, out of 100 applicants. Captain Macindoe. who holds an extra master's ticket, was born in Auckland, and has seen service in the Nevr Zealand Shipping Company, the Donald Carrie Line, and the Northern Company. For three years he has been president of toe local branch of the Merchant Service Guild.
