BEDROOM FURNISHING.

No small part of the beauty of the bedroom of to-day lies in the accessories that go to make the surroundings and furniture more attractive by the colour introduced or the sheen or design of the fabrics.

The covering for the bed during the day is one in which there is a good deal of choice. In bedrooms where cretonne is used for window hangings or other draperies ' the bed always looks well and in Keeping spread with a cover of white linen -with insets of Clunv lace. These are very easily made, and the hand embroidery is often added in vine designs or clusters on the linen. Every kind of linen is used, from the fine handkerchief to the heavy toilet, but of course the finer the material the finer the lace. There are even "wide linen strips specially prepared that may be bought by the yard. Coverlets of the brocaded silk or wollen

-material that- is used for the window draperies are used a great deal abroad also to cover the bed. In this case it is made in one large oblong piece and drawn up over the bolster or pillows, and falls almost to the ground at the sides. Narrow passementerie braid, either matching or of dull tinsel, or a very narrow silk matching fringe, borders the edges. This material also is placed under the glass that is now used to cover the tables and dressers.

Lingerie pillows are one of the prettiest j accessories an up-to-date bedroom can I have. They are arranged in nests on j the bed, the divan, or flung in the corners of the big lounging chairs. They are of all sizes and oblong, circular, and square. They are made of batiste, hand- , kerc' linen, or the thicker French linen, and hare insertions of Cluny, Valenciennes, filet and some of the crochetted or knitted laces. French hand embroidery is added in decorative touches between the rows of lace insertion, and a Ijjce border matching the insertions used OTges • these pillows, sometimes fulled, | sometimes plain. . lingerie pillow, made of two circles of the material connected by a gathered piece that makes the thickness of the cushion, is just now the favourite shape. This is made also of taffeta and used with the other lingerie cushions to slip back of one when reading or taking morning coffee in bed. The lingerie pillow covers are always made so that tney button and buttonhole on the undecorated side, so that they can be. easily removed to be laundered. " The pillow itslf is covered with white, pale blue, or pink linen, satin or silk.
