Major H. Jolly, 3rd, Auckland, Mounted Rifles, has been appointed temporary area officer and adjutant 3rd, Auckland, Mounted Rifles, vice Captain M. Aldred. The appointment dates from July 19, 1915.

N.Z. Medical Corps orders include the appointments of Dr. H. M. Goldstein and Dr. A. Kinder, to be captains, and the resignation of Captain C. B. Rossiter.

The Auckland Yachtsmen's Naval Defence Rifle Club with headquarters at Auckland has been accepted as from Julv 16, 1915.

The resignation of the Rev. I. E. Bertram, chaplain to the forces, fourth class, has been accepted.

The Rev. G. H. Mann, has been appointed chaplain to the forces, fourth class.

As it has been arranged for the Auckland Garrison Officers' Club to be the chief centre for lectures in the district, it is most desirable, and the wish of the O.C. district, that all officers of the defence forces in the district, should become members of the club.

Authority has been granted to group commanders to proceed immediately with the new record system. Company and unit commanders are requested to give the group commanders every assistance in completing the new files for the men training in their respective units.

Application to sit for the competitive examination for admission to the Royal Military College of Australia, will be received at district headquarters, Auckland, not later than October I. No application for entry to the examination will be received after this date by district headquarters.

The attention of all. concerned lias been repeatedly directed to the necessity for the correct addressing of all correspondence for district headquarters. It is to be distinctly understood that all correspondence of a departmental nature intended for district headquarters must be so addressed, and the increasing practice of addressing individual officers, at this office, by name, must cease.

Staff-Sergeant 8. 'Mellows, N.Z. Permanent Force, has been appointed Assistant Director of Supplies and Transport, and has been granted the temporary rank of lieutenant, and attached to No. 1 Company, N.Z. Army' Service Corps while so employed.

The follownig appointments have" been noted in district orders:—Sergeant W. R. McCormick, 6th, Hauraki, Regiment, to be 2nd lieutenant; 2nd" Lieutenant C. L. Fleming, Coast Defence Infantry Detachment, to N.Z. Army Service Corps; 2nd Lieutenant P. B. Cooke, Divisional Signal Company to be lieutenant; 2nd Lieutenant J. C. Holland, N.Z. Army Service Corps, to be lieutenant; G. R. Hutchinson to ie 2nd lieutenant in N.Z. Army Service Corps.

Excellent work was done by' the National Reserve units on Sunday adjacent to the railway station where the members lined the route and kept the crowd from encroaching on the station platform and precincts.
