LATEST WAR RUMOURS.
SAD DEATH OF TUBE TOPICS. Thk latest war rumour- which has been going the rounds of London clubs and has been a topic of animated railway train conversation has just died. It was stated that as the War Office believed there were a large number of men in officers' uniform travelling about London they, decreed on a certain day that no officer should travel bv a tube railway. The unauthorised did "so, and the Provost Marshal swooped down and made a bag numbers vary—of from twenty to forty. Excitement over the details of • this rumour waxed as high as the fixing of the date on which the tubes were to be blown up— date known only to a nurse to' whom a love-sick German patient had confided the secret.
