PATRIOTIC FOOTBALL.

Contributions from the country districts are now being paid into the fond opened by the Mayoress of Auckland, Mrs. J. H. Gunson, to provide leather waistcoats for soldiers on active service. A donation of 7s will pay for one waistcoat, and Mrs. Gun son desires that all subscriptions should be forwarded without delay. Winter, 15; Mr. and Mrs. John Foster, MCngonui, 14; Maungaturoto, per Mrs. Mercer, (additional contribution), 11; Kawakawa, per Mrs. Kirkpatrick, 7; Kaiwaka, per Mrs. J. Leslie (additional contribution!, 6; Ohaeawai, per Mrs. M. E. King, 5; Mrs. J. Dunning, Mount Albert District, per Mayoress (additional contribution), Airs. S. A. Wilson, Waingaro, John S. A contribution of 200 waistcoats ha* been promised by the Mayoress of Devonport, Mrs. A. M. Pickford, and about hall that number has already been provided by subscriptions. The fund trill be augmented during the week-end by a patriotic* football tournament this afternoon and a band concert to-morrow.

A programme of four matches has been arranged by the Auckland Rugby League, and the games will be played in the Devonport Domain. A charge will be made for admission, and the whole proceeds will be devoted to Mrs. Pickford's fund.

The programme of matches is as follows : —City Juniors v. Rest of Auckland, No. 1 ground, 2 p.m.; Referred' Association v. Junior Advisory Board, No. 1 ground, ,3 p.m.; Sunnyside fourth grade team v. Rest of Auckland, No. 2 ground, 2 p.m.* Sunnvside third grade team v. Rest of Auckland, No. 2 ground, 3 p.m. The Garrison Artillery Band by permission of Lieutenant-Colonel W. H. Hazard will play the following programme on the Cheltenham Beach to-morrow at 3 p.m.—March, "Simplicity, *' Ord Hume ; overture, "Tancredi," Rossini; air varie, " Sandon," Rimmer; grand selection, Roberto il Diavolo." Meyerbeer; cornet solo, Star of Bethlehem," Adams; raise, " A P?ean of Victory," Anon; march. " Rimutaka," TrnsseD. A collection will be taken up in aid of the waistcoat fund.
