CONDUCTORS ON TEAMS. The art of "conducting" a street car through the crowded thoroughfares of Berlin (savs a message to the New York Journal of Commerce) is being taught to women in five "schools for conductoresses," , which "graduate" each week * total of j between 500 and 400 female conductors, to | take the place of men gone to the war j Between 2500 and 5000 women are now employed. and incidentally every one who has applied passed the preliminary examination. A large percentage, however, cannot stand the strain, and have to geek other work.
