BUTTER RAISED IN PRICE.
MR- MASSEY THREAT£>>'? ACTIOS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.SPECIAL COnBESPONDEXT.]
Wellington, Friday. Reflyixg to a question asked in the Hons# of Representatives to-day regarding an increase in the price of butter in Wellington from Is 3d to Is 4d. the Prime Minister said that he was of opinion there was no necessity for a rise. Butter was coming into all the centres, particularly Wellington and Auckland, by thousands of boxe« and he had been expecting a decrease in price rather than an increase. There wag a good market for butter in England. It was true that the price in New Zealand should be in proportion to the price in England. He would have the matter looked into, and, if necessary, steps would be taken to prevent what was going on. He was already in communication with th« j head of the Dairy Division of the Depart- ! ment of Agriculture, and with the chair, man of the Foodstuffs Commission.
