Mr. H. A. Wooton, of Singapore, arrived at Auckland by the Victoria yesterday, and is staying at Cargeii.

Mr A. E. Glover, M.P. for" Auckland Central, arrived in Auckland from Wellington by yesterdav afternoon's express train.

Mr. J. H. Gunson. Mavor of Auckland, returned from a visit to Wellington bv yesterday afternoon's Main Trunk express.

Amongst recent militarv appointments are included the promotion of Corporals T E. Y. Seddon, M.P., and F. W. D Stewart, M.P., to the rank of sergeant.

Mr. H. D. Heather, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, who has been on a visit to Wellington, returned to Auckland by the Main Trunk express yesterday afternoon.

Commissioner H. C. Hodder, of the Salvation Army, who has been visiting Auckland, leaves for Taumarunui by the mid-day express to-day. He will visit Raetihi, Taihape, and Marton, before returning to Wellington on Wednesday.

Mr. H. H. McCullough has been appointed manager of the Auckland branch of the British Dominions General Insurance Company, Limited. Mr. McCul lough has left the Liverpool and London and Globe Office to take up his new position.

Lieutenant Kenneth Eady. of Auckland, who recently received a commission in the Royal Field Artflle'rv, is now in training at Newcastle, England. Mrs- W. Eady, his mother, left Wellington yesterday by the lonic, to visit him before he leaves for the front-

B'} McKinney, who is resigning the position of general secretary of the Auckland Young Men's Christian Association at the end of the present year, in order to seek a change of climate, has accepted a unanimous invitation from the Invercargill Association to take charge of next year's work in that centre. Prior to making an extended tour abroad in 1913, Mr. McKinney was general secretary at Invercargill for over six years.

Mr. Justice Denniston has received information of the promotion of his son, Sergeant Geoffrey Denniston, to a commission in his own regiment. King Edward's Horse. Lieutenant Dennisuon joined this territorial regiment while an undergraduate at Cambridge, before the beginning of the war.
