PROVINCIAL CONVENTION.

The provincial convention of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was resumed in the Mission Hall yesteiday morning. There was a large attendance of delegates and friends. Greetings were received from Opotiki, Waiuku, and Cambridge, and satisfactory reports from these centres were presented.

Two subjects, the patriotic pledge to abstain from liquor, and the Bible in Schools question, were discussed at length. Mrs. Morrison, of Warkworth, delivered an interesting address entitled, "Woman: Her Power." In the course of her remarks, Mrs. Morrison said that by bringing up her children in the way they J should go, a woman was laying the right foundation for the future generations. A similar address, entitled, "A Woman's Mission," was given by Mrs. Snow, who dealt more particularly with the rearing of children from the cradle. Songs were snng by Mrs. Fountain and Mrs. Ogilvie. The convention passed the following resolution, " That the Government be urged to provide for the closing of hotel bars at 1 p.m. on the statutory half-holi-day observed by other trades in the same district."

Tha, election of officers resulted as follows :—President. Mrs. John Cook; secretary, Miss S. E. Evans; corresponding secretary. Miss N. Dewar; treasurer, Miss Dewar.

The convention, which was regarded by the officials as having been very successful, concluded at 5 p.m.
