THE HATE SQUADS.
Rotter's Special Correspondent from the front says that a beautifully-made German bomb was discovered unexploded in our trenches recently. Oval in shape and of light weight, it could be thrown a considerable distance, perhaps 60yards, while the mechanism was so contrived that in whatever way the bomb fell, it was practically certain to explode. The outer rim was encircled % by five projecting detonators, and each of which was capable of firing the charge on impact. A sixth knob contained a safety pin which flew out immediately the bomb left the hand of the thrower. Another weapon of which it is impossible to have too many, is the so-called telescopic rifle. This consists of an ordinary rifle with a special sight attached, by which the object aimed at is magnified several diameters and «W g 8 ° cl . osel y to the eye that, at S'B«., lt » almost impossible to 2*2 k ' J* the hands °*» n expert Hon ov^ lng i fr i m fiome «M**aled posiopposini titr tr c xTted ng % Sltle" i S StrUm6?lt believed, aimed witb/a tde^i^rifK
