RESTRICTING LIQUOR TRADE
APPEAL FROM CHURCHES. (Received September 10. 11 D.m.) London, September 10. The heads of the Protestant churches have issued a combined appeal emphasising the need for self-sacrifice and self-discipline by abstaining from alcoholic liquor during the war, and urging the members of the churches to call upon the Government to meet the necessity of the hour and to pass effective measures to restrict the sale of drink. ,
