MINING NEWS.
TALISMAN. TRANSFER OF HEAD OFFICE. The suggested transfer of the head office of the Talisman Consolidated, Ltd., from London to New Zealand, will, it is stated, be probably carried into effect. One of the local board of directors, Mr. T. S. Weston, informed a Herald representative yesterday that the New Zealand shareholders were "unanimous in holding that the change should be made. If the desired object is attained the head office of the company will be located in Auckland, as it will thereby be in close touch with the .mine. ROSS GOLD FIELDS. The superintendent of the Ross Goldfields reports as follows on the work "done, at the mine for the week ended September 2 — No. 13, north-east drive, which has now a more easterly direction, has advanced 25ffc in wash payable for 3ft below the back laths. The east prospecting drive is out 16ft, having passed through the clay formation into low-grade medium sized brown wash. No. 11, north drive, has been extended 12ft, and No. 9. north drive, sft. both in pay wash. Blocking is proceeding off No. 7 north drive and No. 8 south drive." WAITANGI CONSOLIDATED. Reporting on the work done at the Waitangi Consolidated mine, Thames, during the past week, the manager says that the ore coming from the leading stopes and the intermediate drive looked well and was of fair grade.
