CONFERENCE IN TARANAKI. £BT TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION*.] Haweba, Thursday. A representative meeting of dairy factory directors throughout . Taranaki was held at Hawera to-day to discuss a circular received by the National Dai 17 Association from the Government with reference to an offer from the War Office for cheese from the Dominion for the British Army. The circular stated that the War Office would take 1000 tons of cheese per month at 6j,d f.0.b., from October to March inclusive. Mr. Morton, chairman of the National Dairy Association, presided, and Mr. Cuddle, Dairy \ Commissioner, was present. After a long \ discussion it was decided that the Government bo recommended to commandeer 20 per cent, of the output of New Zealand cheese pro rata from every factory making cheese, at 7d per lb at the grading store.
OTAGO PRICES ADVANCED.
SOME FACTORIES ACCEPT 7iD. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dttnedin, Thursday. It is reported that buyers of the new season's outputs of cheese have advanced their prices, and that some,factories have closed with offers of 7Jd f.o.b. It is said that the conference of directors of cheese factories to be held at Invercargill tomorrow may have a material bearing on the prices which will be accepted by many of the factories in the Dominion.
