The weather has improved in most parts of the Dominion, with decreasing southerly •Binds. The barometer rose everywhere last night, but shows a falling tendency to-day.

TO-DAY'S FORECAST. Present indications are for variable winds. easterly breezes predominating, and backing to freshening norther!ies northward of New Plymouth anil Napier, and increasing northerhes elsewhere soon. The barometer is falling everywhere, especially in the South. Expect increasing haze and cloudiness for a change in the weather conditions shortly.

The Wanaka, due to-morrow morning from Bluff and .way ports, brings a cargo of produce.. She sails on Tuesday next for Oamaru, Slug and Timarn, to load again for this port. j. „The cargo steamer Wonganell* sailed at 3.30 m- yesterday for Ocean Island, where she will load a cargo of phosphates for a New Zealand or Australian port. The R-M.S-. Niagara left Sydney yesterday afternoon for Auckland direct, with mails, passengers and general cargo. She is due here early on Monday morning, and is timed to sail at 10 i.m. on Tuesday for Suva, Honolulu and Vancouver. ~A cablegram received by the local office of the Union Company states that the RMS. Alakura .left Vancouver at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday, time-table date, for Auckland, via Honolulu and Suva. She is due here on Sunday. September 19, and sails the following day ior Sydney direct. Early yesterday morning the Norwegian' barque Activ arrived from Surprise Island aud Aoumea, with a cargo of 1100 tons of : guano, being berthed at the King's Wharf.
