BOOTMAKING INDUSTRY.
POSITION IX WELLINGTON.
TBT TELEGRAPH. —I>RESS ASSOCIATION*.] Ellington, Monday. A special meeting of the Wellington Operative Bootmakers' Union was held tonight to discuss the position that has arisen through the expiration last month of the award governing the trade. A resolution was adopted to approach the employers and ask them to meet the union in conference to fix wages and conditions of labour in the bootmaking industry in the Wellington district. This move marks a departure from the existing conditions, as the workers have hitherto been subject to a Dominion award.
