MOTOR TRAFFIC BY-LAWS

The question of motor traffic by-laws is to be considered by the Auckland Suburban Local Bodies' Association, at a special meeting to be held on Thursday night. At last night's meeting of the Mount Albert Borough Council a letter was received from the association, asking that tho council should be represented. The Mayor, Mr. Murdoch McLean, pointed out that some time ago the council drafted bylaws dealing with motor traffic, but they were never never put into operation. Afterwards the Local Bodies' Association took the matter up. What the council pro-

posed was that motor vehicles should be allowed to travel at a speed of 16 miles an hour outside Ivingsland, and 12 miles an hour through Ivingsland to the boundary of Dominion Road. In the Mayor's opinion speed by-laws should be made as uniform as possible throughout the whole of , the suburbs. Personally, he did not object to 20 miles an hour being fixed as the 'maximum speed- The council desired to prevent reckless motor-driving along the main road at busy times, especially race days. The Mayor and Mr. J. H. Bradney were deputed to represent the council.
