ADVANCE TOWARDS THE BUG. NEARING BREST LITOVSK. NOVO GEORGIEYSK UNREDUCED. ißeceived August 16. 9 -5 p.m.; Amsterdam. August 15. A German official communique | states : " We consolidated our positions at Martinswerk in the Argonne. | " General von Buelow in the i Kupisckhky district, north of the i Nip men. pushed back the Russians to the north-eastward, taking 2350 prisoners. South from Kovno we repulsed the enemy, taking 1000 prisoners. Our troops are drawing nearer the fortress. The Russians between the Narew and the Bug continued to make a stubborn resistance. We forced the Nurec, crossing 50 miles southeast of Bielostok, on Saturday night. General von Schultz, on Saturday took 1000 prisoners, and General von Gallwitz 3550 prisoners, i including 14 officers. Ten machinej guns were also captured. The I ring around the fortress of Novo Georgievsk is no narrower. _ The enemy again tenaciously! resisted Prince Leopold's advanced I army, east of Warsaw. We pierced | the enemy s positions northwards of Losice. 3.) miles west of Brest Lito\sk, and between Losice and Miedzj rzec-zs, the enemy retreating. General Wovrsch, between August 8 and 14 took 4000 prisoners, including 22 officers and nine machineguns. j '"The Russians on the line!
