It is reported that the Russians cut the German line between Ponewesh and Vilkomir, north-west of Vilna, causing the Germans to retreat hurriedly from Vilko. mir. The.Russian line now extends from Lomza, 78 miles northeast of Warsaw, to Wlodawa, due south of Brest Litovsk, on the Bug, offering a convex front to the Germans. The Russians are described as being in full command of the situation, while the Germans are short of the men necessary for the prosecution of a campaign further into Russia. Telegrams from Athens announce the meeting of the Greek Parliament, which may be followed by the formation of a Ministry under the Premiership of M. Venizelos, and a material change in the position in the Balkans. M. Venizelos, whose party form a considerable majority of the new Parliament, I favours intervention on the side of the allies.
