LONSDALE CHEERFUL.
"ONLY 770 SUNDAYS." (Received July 21. 146 a..m.) London, July 20. Private Lonsdale has written to his wife, stating that his sentence has boen commuted to 15 years' imprisonment. The letter ends : "Cheer up! It is only 770 Sundays."
Private Lonsdale, a British prisoner in Germany, was sentenced to death for striking a German guard. This was commuted by a German court to imprisonment for life, and this sentence again, was reduced by a military court to imprisonment for 15 years.
