PEACE PROPAGANDISTS.
QUESTION IN THE HOUSE. ORGANISATION SUSPECTED. Loxdon, July 19. In the House of Commons, Sir Edward Carson, Attorney-General, was questioned as to whether an organisation, styled the Union, of Democratic Control, was carrying on an. anti-recruiting campaign, and was also working with a view of shopping the war, and compelling the acceptance of a peace favourable to the enemy. He was also asked whether the expenses of such an organisation were defrayed from Germany. S r Edward Carson said the organisation referred to did . not interfere with recruiting. Its avowed object was to secure a peace settlement on a permanent basis. The Government had no information as to who was financing the organisation, but it was presumed that the members' subscriptions supplied the funds.
