TRIBUTE TO BOTHA.
SUPPORT IN OTHER CENTRES
Several telegrams have been received by the Mayor, Mr. J. H. Gunr.on, indicating that other centres are supporting Auckland's action in deciding to commemorate Central Botha's victory and acknowledging in some tangible form his services to the Empire. The town clerk of Nelson, Mr. C Edmonds, telegraphed as follows : —" Nelson City Council heartily adopt;, suggestion to inaugurate shilling subscription to recognise services of General Botha Please wire nature of intended presentation, date when lists close and to whom amounts should be forwarded." From the Mayor of Wertport, Mr. A. Leave. - , the following telegram was received:"Public meeting last night decided to assist Botha presentation. Lists open throughout the district." A letter has also been received from tihe town clerk of Waihi, Mr. H. D. Morpeth, stating that the Mayor of Waihi had fully concurred with the city's proposal, and an effort would oe made in Waihi to augment the fund. The Botha Testimonial Committee meets to-day when arrangements for extending the collections for the fund will be made.
