At a meeting of milk suppliers to Messrs. McKnight and Co.'s factory, at Clevedon, convened by Mr. A. D. BelL to discuss the advisability or otherwise of taking over the factory and store as a co-operative concern, it was resolved to, appoint a committee to ascertain the views of the milk and cream suppliers. Mr. W. C. Thompson, Government orchard instructor, gave a demonstration at, Mr. Bryan's Otau orchards on Thursday, which was well attended by local orchardiste, and the senior scholars of Clevedon school, under Mr. Crispe. - Several more Clevedon men have been accepted foi the reinforcements, and there is no football team this year, owing to the same reason.

HOWICK. ARBOUR DAY CELEBRATIONS. The Howick public school children celebrated Arbour Day by planting one dozen trees of different varieties- The tree-plant-ing occupied the foreiw.ji only, and the afternoon was given as a holiday, so that the pupils could enjoy the occasion to the best advantage. A funeral service was held at the Church of England Cemetery on Wednesday when Mr. Robert Hattaway. of Pakaranga, was buried. The Rev. Mr. Boyes, assisted by Mr. Green, performed the ceremony. Much sympathy is extended to the widow and family, for Mr. Hattawaj was held in great esteezn by all. ARATAPU. TOHEROA CANNINGThe local proprietors of the toheroa. cannine plant, which sustained serious injury by fire at Mahuta Gap recently, have decided to erect modern and moTe comrnodiout premises to carry on their industry. A largely-attended social, under the. auspices of the Tennis Club, was held on Friday evening, and resulted in the court** fund being considerably augmented. RANGIAOHIA. MANUFACTURE Or CHEESE On Friday afternoon the Dairy Association held a meeting to further consider the cheese question, there being a good attendance of settlers present. ~ It was decided to erect immediately a cheese factors- on the present creamery site, and tenders for the erection of the factory are to be called at once.
