OBITUARY.

SISTER CHARLOTTE. I The death occurred at the Mission j House, Grey Street, yesterday of Sister ; Charlotte, of the Order of " the Good j Shepherd. Over 20 years ago Sister j Charlotte, with Sister Francis, under the | direction of the lata Rev. L. Fitzgerald, | started the work of the Order in AuckI land. These two ladies gave up their ! comfortable homes and days of leisure to I enter upon a strenuous life of philanthropic • work, and there are numbers of people jin the city whose lives have been i brightened as the result of their kindness I and generosity. The late sister, who was , beloved by all with whom she came in i contact, was a daughter of the late Mr. ; Leitrh D. Halstead. Two sisters survive ; —Mrs. Sydney Weetman, Remuera, | and Mrs. E. D. Lawrence, Ellerslie. A I memorial service, conducted bv Bishop j Averill, will be held in St. Matthew's I Church, at 10.50 a.m. to-day. MR TKDMAS SHEWRING. A well-known resident of Auckland. Mr. j Thomas Shewring, died at his residence, Tennyson Street, Grey Lynn, on Monday, I at the age of 77.
