'I he discovery of a seam of platinum at a point within 30 miles of the Gisborne Post Office was reported last week by Mr. Thomas Sinclair, who states that with a companion he has been prospecting in the locality at intervals for the past 18 months. It is stated that the mineral has been pronounced by thj Kallarat School of Mines as yielding 72 per cent, of platinum. The mining rights have been secured.
