NEWS 0E PRISONERS. H WOUNDED LEAVE EGYPT. ' .*../';' Melbourne, June 21. In the Senate Mr. G. F. Pearce, 'Defence Minister,, announced that I* arrangements had been made for the United States Ambassador at Constantinople to supply information - regarding prisoners of wair in ;■'■ Turkey. ; Mr. Pearce emphatically contradicted ihe statement that the 'casualties amounted to 10,000 a month. The Australians ha"d been ' fighting over a month, he stated, and the casualties had not reached 10,000. Many reported wounded had already been sent back to the firing line. The hospital ship Kyarra has left Suez with 11 officers and 29 men en route for Australia. Colonel Legge's appointment to the command of the Australians in place of the late General Bridges has been gazetted, and he has been given the rank of brigadier-general.
