NEW SYLVIA. : i
The _ No. 3 rise at the New Sylvia mine, Thames, was up 100 ft last Week! The reef was fairly well mineralised. In No. 5 level south, No.'2 rise was up 45ft. The reef carried a little mineral. No. 4 rise was up 67ft, and the ore was well mineralised, gold being seen fairly freely. MONOWAI. Tlie manager of the Monowai mine, Waioino, reports that the north stopes of! the rise, in 1 level were improving last week. GOLDEN BELT. The manager of the Golden Belt mine, •Nevesville, reports that the compressor house is nearly finished, and' a start will be made this week to put the machinery together. The ore chute at the battery was finished last week, arid a quantity of quartz, which had been gathered up, was being crushed. 8 VVAIOTAHI. The cleaning up of the old battery was in hand at the Waiotahi mine, Thames, last week. The tributers did not meet with anything of value. MOUNT LYELL RETURNS Bv Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, June 21. The Mount Lyell returns, from May 13 to June 9 show that the converters produced 594 tons of copper and 34,6030z of silver. The. amount of- gold is not stated.
