Public Notice is hereby given that the Auckland City Council, in pursuance of its powers under '' The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908," "The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909," "The Rating Act, 1908," " The Auckland and Suburban Drainage Act, 1908." " The Rating on Unimproved Values Act, 1908," and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf intends on WEDNESDAY, the 7th day of July, 1915, to make and levy the following Rates, vis:— • IN RESPECT OF THE CITY OF AUCKLAND (Excluding the District of Grey Lynn), For tho year commenced on the Ist day of June, 1915, and ending on the 31st day of May. 1916, 1. A General Rate of One Shilling and Fourpence (Is 4d) in the £; 2. A Library Rate of One Penny (Id) in the £; 3- A Hospital and Charitable Aid Rate of Threepence (3d) in the £; 4. A Sanitation Rate of Twoponce (2d) in the £; 5. A Drainage Rate of Threepence (3d) in the £ upon the annual ratable value of _ all property as appearing in the Valuation. Roll tor the time being in force in the City of Auckland. 'N RESPECT OF THE DISTRICT OF REMUERA. For the period commenced on the Ist day of April, 1915, and ended on the 81st day of May, 1915, 1. A General Rate at the rate of One Shilling and Fourpcnce (Is 4d) in the £ per annum; 2 A Library Rate at the rate of One Penny (Id) in the £ per annum; 3. A Hospital and Charitable Aid Rate at the rate of Threepence (3d) in the £ per annum; 4. A Sanitation Rate at tho rate of Twopence (2d) in the £ per annum; 5. A Drainage Rate ct the rate of Threepence (3d) in tho £ per annum upon the Annual Ratable Value of nil Property as appearing in the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Remuera District of the City of Auokland. IN RESPECT OF THE DISTRICT OF GREY LYNN. (a) For the period commenced on the Ist day of April, 1915, and ended .on the 31st day of May, 1915. 1. A General Rate at the rate of Twopence and five-twelfths of a penny (25-12 d) in the £ per annum on the Unimproved Valuo; 2. A Hospital and Charitable Aid .Bate at tho rate of One-eighth of a' Penny I'ojcl) in the £ per annum on the Capital Value; S. A Drainage Bate at tho rate of One-fifth of a penny (0 l-sd) in the £ per annum on tho Capitol Value of all Ratable Property in tho Grey Lynn District of the City of Auckland as appearing in the Valuation Roll for the time being in fcrce therein. (b) And for the year commenced on the Ist day of June, 1916, and ending on the 31st day of May, 1916. 1. A General Rate of Twopence and Fivetwelfths of ft Penny (2 5-12 d) in the £ per annum on the Unimproved Value; 2. Town Hall. Auckland, to J. Sylvester Bngham. the Council's Collector, or such other person as may be from time to time appointed to collect the same. The estimates upon which the whole of the above Rates are being struck having been approved by the Council are open for inspection at the Town Clerk's Office, Town Hall, Auckland. WATER RATES. And notice in further given that the Auckland City Council, in pursuance of its powers under "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908/" " The Rating Act. 1908," " The Rating on Unimproved Values Act. 1908, and of all other powers enabling 11 in that behalf, intends on WEDNESDAY, the 7th day of July. 1915. to make and levy for the year commencing on the Ist day of July, 1916, and ending on the 30th day of June, 1918. the following water rates. IN RESPECT OF THE CITY OF AUCKLAND. (Excluding therefrom the District of Grey Lynn.) In respect of tho ordinary supply.— Upon all lands and buildings to which water is supplied whose annual ratable value as appearing on the valuation rollDoes not exceed twelve pounds ten shil- ' lings, a rate of ten shillings (10s). Exceeds twelve pounds ten shillings, but does not exceed one hundred pounds, a rate of two and a-half per centum (2| per cent,) on such value, provided that in no case shall the minimum amount of such rate be less than ten shillings (10s). Exceeds one hundred pounds, a rate of two .per centum (2 per cent.) on such value. Upon all lands and buildings to whioh water can be but is not supplied, situate within one hundred yards from any part of the water works, a rate of one-quarter per centum (J per cent.) on the annual ratable value. Upon all buildings used as stores or warehouses, or for any purpose other than as dwellinghouses, ft rate of one per centum (1 per cent.) upon the annual ratable value, provided that when the sunn to hydrauho lifts in such buildings is wholly paid for by meter this rato shall not be levied upon such buildings. IN RESPECT OF THE DISTRICT OF . GREY LYNN. In respect of the ordinary supply:— Upon properties to which water is supplied whose ratable value in terms of The Bating Act, 1894"— Does not exceed £12 10s, ten shillings per annum. Exceeds £12 10s, but does not exceed £20, 6 per cent, per annum. Exceeds £20, but does not exceed £30. Si per cent, per annum, but not less for any tenement than £1 4s per annum. Exceeds £30, but does not exceed £40. 4} per cent, per annum, but not less for any tenenent than £1 13s per annum. Exceeds £40, 4 per cent, per annum, but not less for any tenement than £116s per annum. Upon all buildings used as dwellings only to which water can be, but is not. supplied, situated within one hundred yards from any part of the water works constructed by and now vested in the Corporation a rate of onehalf of the rates above-mentioned. Tho said rates to be payable in each case in two equal instalments, the first upon the B'h day of July. 1915. and the second unon the 3rd day of January, 1916. at the Municipal Offices. Town Hall. to. J. Sylvester Bricham, tho Council's collector, or to such other person as may bo from tun© to timo appointed to collect the same. The valuation rolls are open for inspection between the hours of 9,30 a.m and 4 o'clock p.m. on ail business day of the week except Saturdays, when 'hey shall be open for inspection between tho hours of 9.30 o'clock a.m. and 12 noon.
