HOBSON COUNTY COUNCIL
♦ "A meettcc of the Hobsou Comity Council •was held at v Dargaville on Friday last. There were present: Messrs. V. Trounron {chairman), W. B. Giesen, J. H. McCarroll, E. Baldwin, G. Lendrum, H. B. Williams, T. C. Hawkins, C. N. Taylor, .W. Montgomery, and E. Trouiison. The financial statement shelved a debit balance of £4114, and accounts totalling £1142 were passed for payment. It was decided to allow the bank overdraft to remain' as at present. Allocations, totalling £6500, were made for the various ridings a.s follows:Xopuru £526, Aratapu £440, Kaihu £680, Awakino £570, Tangowahine £870, Maungaru, £935, Tangiteroria £265, Omana £895, Arapohue £845, and Okahu £525, Dedication of roads completed at Horehore was accepted. P. Sarich was granted a bonus of £50 on his road contract at Arapohue, and it was resolved to pay Crawford Brothers the sum of £90 for land taken for a road at Waimata. The council agreed to accept dedication of Omana roads, conditional on the applicants entering: into a bond of £2000 that ihey will complete all formation work when called upon to do so. A subsidy of £3 was granted towards cleaning Tatarariki outlet drain, and a similar sum for the Aratapu Creek drain. A general rate of 2Jd in the £, and » hospital rate of Jd in the £, was struck, one-farthing of the former being earmarked for war relief purposes. A request from the Whangarei Council that its boundary at Tutamoe be extended was negatived. The engineer reported that road contracts had been completed at Tatarariki Swamp, Windv H : l!, and Karaka, that a contract for £50 had been let to Stewart and Palmer for bridge and road improvements at Karaka. and that outlet roadwork at Muka had been allotted to E. F. Eobeison, at a cost of £42.
