HOSPITAL SHIP FUND.
ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES.
A young man named John Chapman Siddais appeared before Mr. F.' V. Frazer, S.M-. at the Polico Court on Saturday morning charged with obtaining £5 from Isabella Wingate by false pretences at Otahuhu on June 9. It is alleged that he represented that he was collecting tho money for tho Hospital Ship Fund, and appropriated it to his own use. Sub-Inspec-tor Mcllveney said that other charges would bo brought against accused later on. He applied for a remand to Otahuhu, and accused was ordered to appear there on June 24. Bail was allowed in accused's recognisance of £150 and one surety of £150.
DRUNKENNESS. One first offender was fined 5s for drunkenness, and three others, who did not appear, were ordered to forfeit their bail, amounting to 10s. John Hetheringtcm was convicted and discharged for drunkenness, and fined £1 for using obscene language. He was also prohibited. Ernest Lind was fined £3 for using obscene language.
