IRRESISTIBLE DASH OF THE BRITISH.

TWO SUCCESSFUL ATTACKS ON GERMAN TRENCHES.

MANY GERMANS LEFT DEAD ON THE FIELD.

London, Jane 18.

A Reuters message states that in the British offensive east of Ypres and Festubert, west of La Bassee, the men flung themselves forward with irresistible dash, and either shot or bayoneted the opposing Germans. \

After a lull of some hours the engagement was resumed, and more substantial progress was made at Hoogo.

The Germans counter-attacked from north of Belleward Lake and Townbridge, but under our fire they retreated, leaving many dead. Our casualties were light.
