CONDITIONS. ON WEST COAST.

—~ \ SprAixT weather conditions prevailed yesterday the wind blowing strongly from the south-west, with frequent heavy showers. The weather on the West Coast is particularly rough, a heavy southwesterly gale prevailing, with the result that the Manukan Bar was practically unworkable 011 Thursday and yesterday. The Northern Company's steamer Rarawa left Onehunga as usual on Thursday afternoon for New Plymouth, but- owing to the sea which was breaking over the bar, she was obliged to anchor inside the heads for the night, in the hope tint the bar would be passable in the morning. The weather, however, became more boisterous and. as a mountainous sea was running outside the heads, the Rarawa returned to the Onehunga Wharf at 2 p.m. yesterday, and the trip was cancelled. Tiie Rarawa will not leave lor New Plymouth until tho usual time 011 Monday afternoon. The signalman at Manukau Heads reported yesterday that it would be useless sending the Rimit out from Onclninga for Hokianga, as the bar was quite impassable, and the Northern Company, therefore, decided to postpone the vessel s departure until this morning, when ."lie will make an attempt to cross outwards.
